Rescue Crews Respond After Flash Flooding Hits Beaumont, Texas

A flash flood emergency was declared for a number of towns in southeastern Texas on Thursday, September 19, as Tropical Depression Imelda brought heavy rainfall to the area.

12 News reported that high water rescues were underway in Jefferson County, with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office saying over 1,000 people had asked to be rescued. Beamont Police Department said it had received over 590 calls related to the flooding.
