Rising River Water Overflows into South Carolina Town

The Waccamaw River crept deeper into Conway, South Carolina, on Saturday, September 22, with more water coming. The river is expected to crest Tuesday at 22 feet – four feet above a record set in 2016 by Hurricane Matthew’s floods.

Hurricane Florence’s flood topped the record on Friday, and on Sunday morning, the river level was just under 20 feet. The flood stage for the Waccamaw River is 12 feet. Credit: Kurt Gerald via Storyful
