Have you ever had a ‘Trashed Talk’? — New Taipei launches new bin bags
TAIPEI (The China Post) — The garbage truck collection system is part of Taiwan people’s daily lives. While waiting for the garbage trucks, most people would use their phones instead of talking to their neighbors.
With this observation in mind, a team consisting of four students from the National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA) created a series of reusable bin bags, nicknamed “Trashed Talk,” in a joint collaboration with the Environmental Protection Bureau (EPB) of New Taipei.
The students from the Department of Visual Communication Design won the Golden Pin Design Award in September 2019. The team has since launched three series — “Trashed Talk,” “Charity” and “Flirting” — with 15 different designs in total.
“Trashed Talk” is a local teen slang, meaning “rubbish talk between friends” in Chinese. The design team created bin bags with funny graphic design and slogans in the hope of increasing social interactions between neighbors and promoting cleanliness.
Different from the traditional red bin bags, each of the five series under “Trashed Talk” has distinctive patterns and funny lines such as “You guys are trash! The garbage truck is coming!”
Other lines include “I want to be trash,” and “I dumped my ex.” The other lines are “ Life is trash (meaningless),” and “Time and garbage truck wait for no one.”
The funny lines make waiting fun. Following the “Trashed Talk,” “Charity” was released last year while the “flirting” bin bags also went on sale on Jan. 2020.
The EPB has prepared 4000,000 “Trashed Talk” bin bags available in four convenience chain stores in New Taipei City, including 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Hilife and OK Mart.
